Union Budget dashes common man s hopes

Dearness to increase further, Chief Minister
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the Union Budget has dashed common man's expectations. In his instant reaction to the Union Budget, Shri Chouhan said that the common man, who heaving under the yoke of dearness, has been grossly disappointed by this budget. This budget has not only dashed the hopes of controlling dearness but it will lead to further rise in dearness.Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the Union Government had increased the worries of farmers by hiking urea prices by 10 per cent before the budget and now the budget has made even coal and fertilisers costlier.

The Chief Minister criticised rise in the production duty on diesel and petrol. He said that this will lead not only to rise in expenditure on transport but will also hike prices of all the commodities. Shri Chouhan also expressed his disappointment on the increase in the prices of coal, cement and steel. He said that not only construction of houses will become costlier but the cost of power generation will also go up and the common man will have to bear the brunt of these inflationary measures apart from industry and other essential sectors.

The Chief Minister provision of Rs 1200 crore for Bundelkhand package in the Union Budget is like a peanut. He said that he had demanded the Prime Minister to allocate over Rs 24 thousand crore for Madhya Pradesh portion of Bundelkhand. Shri Chouhan said that Rs 1200 crore has been allocated for Bundelkhand portions falling in both Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which is grossly inadequate.

Shri Chouhan said that he had also urged the Prime Minister for special assistance for Vindhya and Mahakaushal region, which has been overlooked in this budget.

The Chief Minister said that Rs 5000 crore provision for power sector is also quite inadequate. He said that on one hand a state like Madhya Pradesh is spending Rs 3000 crore on energy sector and on the other hand the allocation for this sector in the Union Budget is just Rs 2000 crore more and it manifest point of view of the Union government towards availability of power in the country.

The Chief Minister said that an increase in the upper limit of income tax was also expected which was dashed. He said that value of rupee is depreciating day by day due to dearness and it is clear that the people will have to cough up more money on income tax and other heads.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that overall the Union Budget will lead to increase in dearness in all the sectors and hence it is anti-people and anti-poor.
