1750 crore to be spent on drinking water, sanitation

 39 works completed under Uday Project
Under the Uday Project, works involving a cost of over Rs. 1750 crore are being carried out with the aid of the Asian Development Bank in four cities of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.
These works include water supply, sanitation arrangements, water outlet, solid waste management and community development. So far, 39 works have been completed in these cities.

Under the project, these works are being carried out keeping in view the needs and population growth till the year 2021. As per the estimation of a survey conducted in this regard, the number of small and big cities would increase from 348 to 550. With the execution of the Uday Project, desired improvement could be made in drinking water arrangements, sewage water disposal system, rain water outlet and safe disposal of solid waste in the four cities namely – Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.

Moreover, under the project an amount of Rs. 237 crore will be spent in Bhopal city, Rs. 226 crore in Gwalior, Rs. 886 crore in Indore and Rs. 405 crore in Jabalpur. These funds include Rs. 252 crore received from the Asian Development Bank, Rs. 74 crore provided by the State Government and Rs. 57 crore contributed by the concerning municipal corporation.
