Shaurya Smarak to be temple of bravery : C.M.

C.M. announces to increase honorarium of soldiers 
Describing the proposed Shaurya Smarak (Bravery Memorial) to be built in Bhopal as the temple of bravery, the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the spirit of gallantry on the land of Madhya Pradesh would not be allowed to die down. Shri Chouhan said that Shaurya Smarak would be a source of inspiration for the citizens. He wished that the Shaurya Smarak would be a destination of pilgrimage. Shri Chouhan was addressing a gathering after the bhoomi poojan ceremony of the Shaurya Smarak to be constructed in the Chinar Park on Arera Hills, here today.

The Chief Minister said that the country and the society doing nothing to commemorate the sacrifice of martyrs is viewed by him as ungrateful. Shri Chouhan said that the state government by constructing the proposed Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal would feel itself privileged. The Chief Minister announced on the occasion that there would be no dearth of funds for construction of the Smarak. He said that arrangements would be made for the light and sound programme focused on the saga of martyrs in the Smarak.

The Chief Minister also announced that special cell would be set up in Madhya Pradesh. The proposed cell would redress the grievances of soldiers and their families. Shri Chouhan said that the state government was considering to take the benefit of experience and knowledge of the ex-servicemen on matters pertaining to security.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced to provide honorarium every month lifelong to the soldiers belonging to Madhya Pradesh receiving gallantry medals and service medals at various levels besides increasing the award money given to them.

Shri Chouhan informed that land measuring 40 acres has been earmarked by the state government for a residential colony for the soldiers.

Speaking as a guest of honour at the function, the Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor said that the proposed Shaurya Smarak would be a source of inspiration for the present and future generations displaying the value of freedom besides maintaining it. Terming the construction of the Shaurya Smarak as a true homage to the martyrs, General Kapoor expressed gratitude towards the Madhya Pradesh Government and the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan as well. Shri Kapoor said that he was happy to be a witness to the bhoomi poojan ceremony of the Shaurya Smarak.

The President of the Madhya Pradesh Foundation and Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Vivek Tankha also expressed his views on the occasion.

The Housing and Environment Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya informed that the Shaurya Smarak would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 16 crore in a period of one and a half year.

Earlier, the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and General Deepak Kapoor performed the bhoomi poojan of the Shaurya Smarak with the full rituals. The Urban Administration Minister Shri Babulal Gaur, MLA Shri Jitendra Daga , Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur, General Officer Commanding of Bhopal based Sudarshan Chakra Corps Lieutenant General Rajendra Singh, Chief Secretary Shri Avani Vaish, Director General of Police Shri S.K. Raut were also present on the occasion.
