“Bagroda” AWC to be the 1st model centre
With a need to provide quality pre-school education, anganwadi centres will be developed as “Anganwadi Nursery School”. To initiate the process Anganwadi Centre at Bagroda in Bhopal district is being developed as a model centre.
Department of Women and Child Development in collaboration with Department of School Education and UNICEF propose to embark on an accelerated quality improvement programme for the Anganwadi centres in the state. Training has been imparted to 2200 supervisors. As many as 69 thousand 240 Anganwadi workers have also been trained with the cooperation of Rajya Shiksha Kendra.
In the first phase, ten thousand Anganwadi centres of the state will be developed as model centres. Such 200 villages wouldbe selected where the total nomination rate of primary school children is minimum. Everyday two hours out of the six hours period will be dedicated for pre-school educational activities at the Anganwadi centres. Besides, Bal Sabhas will also be organized at last Saturday of every month. The selected Anganwadi centre’s building will be based on the concept of Building as Learning Aids (BaLA).
