Citizens contribute generously as their social obligation
The whole country will observe Armed Forces Flag Day on 7th December 2009. On this proud occasion, the President Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil; Vice President, Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari; Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh; Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan; Defence Minister Shri A.K. Antony, all the three of the Forces have appealed to the citizens to contribute generously as their social obligation towards welfare and resettlement of ex-servicemen and their families.
The President, Smt. Pratibha Patil in her message said that the country is proud of the achievements of its Armed Forces whose patriotism, courage and spirit of sacrifice have earned for them the affection and esteem of the entire nation. Shri Patil said that the Flag Day is an opportunity for all to demonstrate their solidarity by contributing generously for the well-being of serving and retired personnel of the Defence Services and their families.
Extending greetings to the serving and retired personnel, the Vice President, Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari said that Armed Forces have defended the country with dedication and courage. Antony said that the Armed Forces Flag Day offers us a singular opportunity to express our gratitude to Armed Forces personnel who not only resolutely defend the borders of our great nation but also render valuable service during national calamities and in combating internal disturbances. Shri Antony appealed to the people to demonstrate their patriotism by contributing generously to the Flag Day Fund.
The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that our Armed Forces are a symbol of our nation’s unity integrity and an inspiring example of their impeccable denotation to duty and alacrity in serving the country, both in war and peace. Shri Chouhan extended his greetings to all the serving and retired persons of the Armed Forces and their families and appealed to the citizens to contribute in providing comfort, welfare and rehabilitation to the ex-servicemen when they most need it. General Deepak Kapoor, Admiral Nirmal Verma and Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik have also appealed to the people to make positive contribution.
