The Chie Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called upon all the Members of Parliament, MLAs and Zila and Janpad Presidents to lead the drive to be carried out from October 5 to 20 against illegal mining and transportation of minerals in the state.
This would invoke active public participation in the actions to be taken against those indulging in these activities. In a letter to all these public representatives the Chief Minister said that they should not only lead the drive against these activities but also enhance public awareness about this.
In his letter the Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh has adequate mineral deposits and efforts are being made by the government for their exploitation in scientific manner. Shri Chouhan said that no desired progress is being seen in revenue collection due to illegal mining and transportation.
Shri Chouhan said that efforts are made at the government level and there are provisions in the laws and rules to take action against those indulging in illegal mining and transportation. But without active cooperation of the common people effective curb on them is not possible. He said that it is for this purpose that a fortnight-drive is being oganised. The collectors would convene a meeting of public representatives and apprise them in detail in this regard.
The Chief Minister asked the public representatives that along with leading the campaign and enhancing public awareness they should make complaint with the concerning officers if any such case comes to their notice. He said that he has directed all the collectors and other concerning officers in this regard.
