Centre accord early sanction to PMGSadak Yojana

More funds for Bundelkhand region
Bhopal:Thursday, September 10, 2009:Updated 20:10IST The Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Shri Gopal Bhargav met the Union Rural Development Minister, Shri C.P. Joshi here today and requested the latter to accord early sanction to the Rs. 791 crore pending proposals of nine districts under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Shri Bhargav also urged the Union Rural Development Minister to release more funds to provide employment to the villagers and give early sanction for construction of 138 roads in the Naxal infested Balaghat district. He said that these measures would help check the menace of the Naxalites in the area.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Bhargav told the Union Minister that the proposals of 404 roads of 1884 kilometers length of ADB Batch-5 of Madhya Pradesh are lying pending with the Government of India.
The estimated cost of these roads is Rs.556.69 crore, Shri Bhargav added. He also informed the Union Minister that the proposals of 138 roads of 418.41 kilometers length costing Rs. 124.16 crore of Naxal infested Balaghat district are pending with the Government of India. He informed the Union Minister that proposals of construction of 62 bridges estimated to cost Rs. 110.5 crore are lying pending with the centre.
Shri Bhargav further told the Union Minister that all the aforesaid proposals have already been approved by the high power committee of the Government of India. He urged the Union Minister to sanction more central funds for employment-oriented works and women self help groups in the districts of drought-hit Bundelkhand region.
Shri Bhargav during his meeting with Shri Joshi was accompanied by the Principal Secretary, Shri R. Parashuram, Shri Ahlawat and Smt. Rashmi.
