Politics in development works not proper: CM

Stop the works of multipurpose Maheshwar project
In today's coalition politics it is very easy to call for maintaining rapid growth but the reality is somewhat different. There are different ruling parties at state and centre and are working to fulfil their set targets which in turn block the development process.
These views were expressed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at function organised by Jagran group of publication titled 'Jagran Forum on 'Coalition Government and Rapid Growth'.

On this occasion, Chief Ministers of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar, Haryana Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Sukhbir Singh Badal also expressed their views. Union Finance Minister Dr. Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the function. Chief Executive Officer of Jagran group Shri Sanjay Gupta welcomed the guests. Shri Prashant Mishra Bureau Chief of Jagran conducted the function.

Shri Chouhan said that the one sided decision taken by centre government to temporarily stop the works of multipurpose Maheshwar project is a direct fallout of the coalition governments. He said that this works as a speed breaker in the process of development. Shri Chouhan criticized the unilateral decision taken by the central government for temporarily stopping the works at Maheshwar Dam.

He said that almost 95% of the works has already been completed, and power generation was to be started from June onwards, and at the last moment in the name of Relief and Rehabilitation of the displaced persons which according to them has not been upto the mark, has stopped the construction works which infact is adversely affecting the development process.

The some way, he said that in package for development of Bundelkhand area, the politics is going on. In the name of development the different political parties are working for their own political agenda which in turn is hampering development. Shri Chouhan called for streamlining in decision-making on developmental issues, we should see that the benefits of welfare schemes should reach to the common man, he added.

Shri Chouhan made snide remarks at the persons who talks a lot on development while sitting in five star hotels and big talk about their welfare, Shri Chouhan said but the ground reality is far more different from others. The whole process of development has no meaning until and unless the benefits reached the last strata of the society, he added.

Speaking about the Naxalite problem he said that this is not only a law and order problem in fact we should insure the benefits of the various welfare schemes should reach the tribals. He also called for the need to have a long term plan for the overall development of the society in which elections both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha should be held together at one time after every five years and there should be state funding of elections even if this call for a amendment in the Constitution, this should be done Shri Chouhan said.
