Sports grounds being developed in 52 thousand villages

 Rural players now have sports infrastructure
The state government is committed to promoting sports and sportspersons in the rural areas. Sports grounds are being prepared in villages having a population of 5000 to 14000. Special attention is being given to construction of sports grounds in the rural areas apart from urban areas.
Maximum 36 sports grounds have been prepared in Morena district. In these villages, rural sportspersons have been provided sports infrastructure and training. At these newly prepared sports grounds, contractual rural sports coaches have also been appointed.

It may be mentioned that selection of villages for preparing sports ground there is made on the basis of their population, availability of land and prevalence of sports activities there. Every sports ground has been prepared on 1/4 acre land at a cost of Rs 25000.

Due to construction of rural sports grounds and availability of coaches there, there has been a marked increase in the medal tally of the state in various games. Besides, it has also created employment opportunities in the rural areas.

Out of 381 sports grounds, 34 have been prepared in Indore district, 28 in Dhar, 22 in Sagar, 20 in Gwalior, 19 in Shajapur, 18 each in Hoshangabad, Barwani, Satna and Bhind, 17 each in Dewas, Khargone and Chhindwara, 16 each in Sehore, Chhatarpur and Shahdol, 15 each in Betul, Ujjain and Rewa, 12 each in Jabalpur and Balaghat 10 each in Shivpuri, Vidisha, Raisen, Tikamgarh, Seoni and Burhanpur, 9 in Narsinghpur, 8 each in Khandwa, Sheopur and Mandsaur, 7 each in Katni and Ratlam, 6 each in Guna, Mandla, Umaria, Rajgarh and Sidhi, 5 in Datia, 4 each in Jhabua, Anuppur and Harda, 2 each in Bhopal and Dindori and 1 in Ashok Nagar district.
