The Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the preparations for organizing the prestigious Obaidullah Khan Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at a meeting at the Rajya Mantralaya here today. The tournament is schedule to begin from October 2.
Matches of the local teams will mark the beginning of tournament from October 2 and the national team will participate in the tournament from October 10 onwards. The final match of the tournament will be played on October 25.
While reviewing the preparations for the tournament, the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan stressed on organizing this event in accordance with the glorious traditions of the tournament. He said that the message of revival of hockey game in Bhopal should be given to the Hockey World through the successful organization of the tournament.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan authorized the Bhopal Divisional Commissioner to suggest on an amicable solution to the issue of operation and maintenance of the Aishbag stadium. He said that divisional commissioner should come up with a concrete suggestion in this regard after deliberating on this issue with the Bhopal Hockey Federation, Municipal Corporation and the Sports Department.
