Culture Minister chairs Samaroh's central committee meeting
Bhopal:Wednesday, October 21, 2009:Updated 18:07IST Culture and Public Relations Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma chaired a meeting of the central committee of All-India Kalidas Samaroh here today. The meeting finalised the programmes to be held during Kalidas Samaroh which will be held at Ujjain from October 29. Cultural programmes, lecture series, debate competition, poetry recitation, Shloka recitation and painting competitions will be held during the Samaroh which will conclude on November 4.
Those present at the meeting included Minister of state for Food Shri Paraschand Jain, chairman of Ujjain Development Authority Shri Mohan Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary Culture Smt. Abha Asthana, Public Relations Secretary Shri Manoj Shrivastava, Commissioner Ujjain division Shri T. Dharmarao, MP representative Shri Manohar Bairagi, public representative Shri Roop Pamnani, Shri Jagdish Agrawal and officers of Culture, Higher Education, School Education departments, Vikram University Ujjain, Doordashan and Ujjain district administration.
The Culture Minister instructed the Ujjain administration to hold discussions with Ujjain's distinguished citizens and people's representatives with a view to organising the programme on a grand scale. He instructed to give special attention to publicity of the programme so that people from all over India as well as abroad can be connected to this programme.
Before the outset of the Samaroh, on October 28 water from the pious Kshipra river will be filled in a pitcher which will be taken in a procession from Mahakal temple and other areas and Kalash Sthapana will be performed. Under Poorvarang Nandi programme, a musical rendition of Ramayana will be given by Shri Ashwin Pathak of Ahmedabad and Bhakti Sangeet by Shri Govind Bhargava of Kanpur.
On the first day of the Samaroh on October 29, Dr. Puru Dadheech of Indore will present Kathak while Shri Durgacharya of Bhubaneswar will come out with Odissi dance performance. On the second day on October 30, Sanskrit play 'Vikramorvsheeyam' will be staged. It will be directed by Shri Kamal Vashishth of Natyayan, Gwalior. On October 31, Sushri Sudha Chandran of Mumbai will present classical dance and Shri Rajendra Gangani will come out with Kathak performance.
On the fourth day on November 1, Hindi play 'Malvikagnimitram' will be stated by Samanway Sanskritik Sanstha, Allahabad. On November 2, Shri Jaideep Ghosh of Khairagarh will present Sarod recitation and Sushri Shruti Sadolikar will come out with classical singing. On the sixth day on November 3, play 'Abhigyanshakuntalam' in Bagheli dialect will be presented by Kshitij, Rewa. On the concluding day on November 4, Shri Ajay Chakravarty of Kolkata and Dr. Girija Devi of Varanasi will present classical song.
On October 30, a lecture on 'Sanskrit stage and Kalidas' will be delivered by Dr. Radha Vallabh Tripathi of New Delhi under Pandit Suryanarayan Vyas Lecture Series under Saraswat programme of Kalidas Samaroh. It will be presided over by Dr. Yugal Kishore Mishra of Jaipur. On October 31, Dr. Prabhakar Shrotriya of New Delhi will deliver a lecture on cultural value of Kalidas.
The programme will be presided over by Dr. Kamlesh Datt of Varanasi. Under Mahakavi Kalidas Lecture Series, Prof. Rajendra Mishra of Allahabad will deliver a lecture on 'the aesthetic sense of Kalidas' on November 1. It will be presided over by Prof. Vachaspati of New Delhi. On November 2, a lecture will be delivered on 'Kalidas Granthawali' by Shri Rewa Prasad Dwivedi of Varanasi.
The programme will be presided over by Prof. Ramakaran Sharma of New Delhi. On November 3, Prof. Shivaji Upadhyay will deliver his lecture on 'sensitiveness in Kalidas' literature. It will be presided over by Dr. Anjani Prasad of Rewa. On November 1, a meet of Sanskrit poets will be held in which noted Sanskrit poets of the country will take part.
Under the Samaroh, inter-university Sanskrit debate competition, inter-college Kalidas poetry recitation competition, speech contest at higher secondary level and painting competitions will also be held.
