Rs. one lakh on accidental death of Labourers announced

Bhopal:Thursday, September 17, 2009:Updated 20:45IST Compensation of Rs. one lakh to the families, on accidental death of labourers was announced by the Minister of State (Independent charge) for Labour and Revenue Shri Karan Singh Verma, here today on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
Till now, compensation was given only to construction labourers. Shri Verma also distributed cheques to the beneficiaries under Prasuti Sahayta Yojna, Vivah Sahayta Yojna and Medhavi Chhatravritti Yojna. The Programme was jointly organised by M.P. Labour Welfare Board and M.P. Building and other Construction Labour Board.




Rs. one lakh compensation announced for every labour of state for accidental death.
Till now only kin of construction labourers getting the compensation.
Labour Minister Appeals Labourers for registration.
Only registered labourers can avail benefits of welfare schemes.
Govt. launched welfare schemes are for educational, health, socio-economic promotion of workers.
Labourers also underwent medical check up on the occasion by ESI doctors.
I-cards distributed to new labourers.

Addressing the function, Shri Verma appealed to the labourers to ensure their registration so that they can enjoy the benefits of various welfare schemes carried out for them. He also instructed the concerned officers of the department to camp on village level to ensure maximum registration. Till now, more than ten lakh construction labourers are registered and being benefited under various schemes. A maximum number of ten thousand are registered in Bhopal district only.
Secretary, M.P. Buildings and other construction works Labour Welfare Board, Shri Prabhat Dube, Welfare Commissioner, Shri S.S. Dixit and officers, employees of Labour Department, doctors or ESI along with large number of labourers were present on this occasion were present.
