N. V. projects to irrigate 64 thousand hectare Rabi crop

Bhopal:Friday, September 25, 2009:Updated 18:30IST As much as 64 Thousand Hectare Rabi crop will get the Canal Water from various Narmada Valley Projects in coming Rabi Season. The Chairman N.V.D.A. and Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development K.L.Agrawal review the preparations to achieve the Rabi Irrigation target.
Shri Agrawal directed the Engineers that they should make all arrangements to facilitate maximum possible irrigation from the projects. He said that canal networks of all the projects should be inspected and works of repairs and maintenance should be taken up on priority so to complete before the Rabi sowing.
The Chairman warns field Engineers that laxity in this regard shall be dealt hard handed. The Vice Chairman NVDA O.P.Rawat informed that all Chief Engineers have been directed to implement Rabi irrigation programme effectively. He emphasizes the need to communicate farmers about the availability of irrigation water before Rabi sowing.
The Member (Engineering) G.P.Batham informed that 64 Thousand Hectare Rabi irrigation target will be achieved through facilitating canal water to 19,000 Hec. from Indira Sagar Project, 25,000 from Rani Avanti Bai Sagar, 4,000 from Bargi Diversion, 10,000 from Maan and 6,000 Hec. from Jobat irrigation project.
It may be mentioned here that Maan and Jobat project had been completed while canal networks of Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar and Bargi Diversion project is to be completed. Chief Engineers in charge of irrigation projects were also present in the review meeting.
