Civilisation of Harappa is close to being decoded

Swine flu panic in Pune after the death of a 14 year old in the city, with thousands thronging hospitals to be tested and police intervention sought to control the mob is the lead in many papers.With a poor monsoon and the spectre of drought looming large over rice growing states, a meeting of chief secretaries of all states and union territories convened by the Cabinet Secretary, to discuss the situation, is reported in the Hindu.
Two aspects of the landmark Right to ducation Bill make it to the front pages today. The Tribune reports that the Bill spells the end of an era of private tuitions in the country as teachers will be barred by law from imparting private teaching. The Hindustan Times reports that private schools may hike fees to foot the bill of the 25% increased quota for underprivileged children, mandated by the Bill.
A supreme court judgement that states that cases against public servants cannot be re-opened when a political regime changes, unless there is fresh evidence, is a front page story in the Pioneer.
Another prominent story, with photographs, is of two jailed American journalists released by North Korea after a surprise negotiation bid by former US President Bill Clinton with Korean premier Kim Jong Il .
'Raja move to block transparency'
is the lead in the Pioneer on efforts by telecom Minister Raja to appeal against an adverse High court order in the spectrum allotment case.The paper also reports that AIADMK leader Ms. Jayalalitha will boycot by-elections in the state citing that Electronic Voting Machines are unreliable.
The Indus Valley which has puzzled archaeologists since the ancient civilisation of Harappa was discovered is close to being decoded by a joint team of Indian and american researchers reports the Hindustan Times.
