India have the world's largest backlog of cases

Newspapers lead with different stories today, but the Prime Minister's comments at a conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices and news related to the developments in the BJP, concerning Vasundhara Raje, have been prominently reported on the front pages.
The Prime Minister has termed the backlog of 3 crore cases in courts as a "scourge" and promised that the government would take all steps to help the judiciary eliminate "the world's largest backlog of cases and timelines", reports The Times of India. The paper also quotes the Chief Justice of India as saying that murderers are perpetrating their crime faster than the courts can dispense justice.
The Indian Express carries a photograph, showing the Home Minister P. Chidambaram watching the world Badminton final in Hyderabad, with the headline reading, "From Hyderabad stands, Chidambaram makes the point: India safe for world meets."
Newspapers have extensively reported on the alleged "detention" of Shah Rukh Khan at Newark airport in the US, quoting the actor as saying that he did not "feel like stepping on American soil anymore". Minister of State for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor, has decided the incident as "offensive", reports the Asian Age.
The top story in Hindustan Times relates to Jaswant Singh's comment in his new book that Jinnah was a "great man" who was "demonised" by India.
Under the headline, "Give us orders we will crank out Tamiflu at cheaper rates: domestic industry tells government".
