Youths should not deviate from basic values : Chitnis

Bhopal:Thursday, July 9, 2009:Updated 18:21IST Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis has exhorted youths, especially students, not to forget their basic values. It is only through observance of values that they can develop their personality as well as the nation. Smt. Chitnis was addressing a function held here at Government Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya to mark 60th foundation day of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).Smt. Chitnis said that the Parishad has played an important role in running and developing the country after independence. Being a member of ABVP is a responsibility itself. those connected with She exhortedABVP to discharge their role with responsibility. The society has always looked towards Vidyarthi Parishad. Therefore, it will have to prove true to the expectations of people. Smt. Chitnis said that personality development is not a matter of days but requires sustained efforts. Good company is also need for developing good personality. She said that youths should live for others instead of their own selves. The Education Minister also extended her best wishes to ABVP members.
Speaking on the occasion, ABVP's national general secretary Shri Vishnudutt Sharma said that the Parishad has given a new direction to youths after independence. Describing ABVP as the older students' union, he informed that it is active in 5000 colleges and has 16 lakh members.
Earlier, Smt. Chitnis garlanded portraits of Maa Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda and lit a lamp to inaugurate the function. She also released the new mono of the Parishad.
At the outset, welcome was accorded to Smt. Archana Chitnis at the principal's chamber. Smt. Chitnis released college's annual magazine 'Aayam' on the occasion. Those also present on the occasion included college principal Smt. Swarnalata Sharma, district BJP president Shri Alok Sanjar, Public Participation Committee president, corporator Shri Ravindra Yati, former incharge of students' union Shri Ashok Sharma, president incharge Dr. Alka Pradhan, state Professors' Association president Dr. Kailash Tyagi, lecturers and large number of students.
