Slums to be removed from Saket Nagar road within 7 days
Bhopal:Saturday, June 27, 2009:Updated 17:35IST The big municipal corporations in the state can have their own security force. This security force will help police in adverse situations apart from essaying an important role in protecting municipal properties.
This suggestion came up during a meeting chaired by Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur at his residence here today. The Urban Administration Minister expressed his intention to implement this suggestion while describing it as good.
The meeting discussed removal of slums right in the middle of four-lane road in front of DRM Office in Saket Nagar near Habibganj Naka. It was decided that these shanties will be shifted within seven days to Kana Sayya. The Capital Project Administration has developed plots for slum oustees at Kana Sayya at a cost of Rs 15 lakh and hand pumps have been dug there for drinking water requirements. Rs 90 lakh is to paid to Madhya Pradesh Power Distribution Company for making power supply arrangements at the alternative site.
In the first phase, the slums behind the shops along with road will be shifted and shops will be moved to the roadside so that construction of the road can be completed. The CPA has been constructing this road for the past two years but the work is lying incomplete due to these slums.
Those present at the meeting included collector Shri Sheo Shekar Shukla, superintendent of police Shri Jaideep Prasad, CPA chairman Shri Jawahar Singh, Bhopal Municipal Commissioner Shri Manish Singh and chief executive officer of Bhopal Development Authority Shri MG Rusiya.
