Death of children after vaccination in Damoh

 State Govt. announces Rs 10 ,000 aid to each affected family
Taking stern action following the death of four children due to measles vaccination in Damoh, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Anup Mishra has ordered for suspension of district vaccination officer Dr. Anupam Kulshreshta, LHV Vaccination Centre's Smt. S Nayak and MPW Smt. Durga Tiwari with immediate effect and instructed the Health Commissioner to submit an enquiry report. The government has announced assistance to the tune of Rs 10 thousand each to the affected families.
Taking the matter seriously, Health Minister Shri Mishra had rushed a team comprising Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. AN Mittal, Regional Joint Director Dr. KK Tamrakar, Sagar and two other doctors to Damoh and conduct an enquiry. In the preliminary investigation, district vaccination officer Dr. Anupam Kulshreshta, LHV Vaccination Centre's Smt. S Nayak and MPW Smt. Durga Tiwari were found guilty prima facie and they have been suspended with immediate effect. The Health Minister has instructed the Health Commissioner to submit a report about deaths due to vaccination and asked him to ensure that such incidents do not occur in future.

Meanwhile, Water Resources Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya visited the houses of the bereaved families and consoled them. Shri Malaiya announced to provide economic assistance to the tune of Rs 10 thousand to each affected family on behalf of the state government. Later, the Water Resources Minister visited the district hospital and enquired about the health of 5 children undergoing treatment there. These children were also affected by faulty vaccination. Shri Malaiya instructed for emergency duty of doctors to take care of the ailing children and provide them all the necessary medicines.
