Deadline for completing urban water supply schemes

PHE Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen undertakes review 
While reviewing the pending water supply schemes in the urban areas, Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen has instructed the officers to submit a detailed report to him so that responsibility of officers can be fixed. 
The meeting was held at the Mantralaya here today on the issue of pending schemes to the tune of Rs 158.92 crore where the minister gave the instructions to fix a deadline for completion of all the schemes. Those present at the meeting included Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Shri RK Swai, Chief Engineer Shri Sudhir Saxena and chief engineers, executive engineers & superintending engineers of the concerning districts.

While enquiring about urban water supply schemes, Shri Bisen said that all the scheme related to the masses should be completed within a set timeframe so that people can avail of these facilities timely. He also instructed for making provisions for the schemes in case there is no budget and arrange funds from other sources for the schemes for which funds cannot be arranged from budget. He stressed that all the works should be completed before onset of monsoon so that people can avail of their benefits.

The meeting was told that 119 out of 145 pending schemes have been completed. Out of the rest 28 schemes, 28 are being implemented by PHE department and 12 by urban bodies. The cost of pending schemes under PHE department is Rs 26.42 crore out of which seven schemes fall in Baihar in district Balaghat, Kannaud in Dewas district, Sonkatch in Dewas district, Chanderi in Ashok Nagar district, Karera in Shivpuri district, Rahatgarh in Sagar district and Chandameta in Chhindwara district.
