The State Government has declared holiday on Vishwakarma Jayanti, September 17. Workers reporting on work voluntarily on this day would be eligible for getting their wages doubled.
It may be mentioned that labourers of the state are entitled for three national holidays – Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) and Vishwakarma Jayanti (September 17).
Besides, they get five festival holidays which are decided by the employer with the consent of employees representatives. The worker who performs his duties on these holidays would be entitled for alternative holiday or double wages.
