Government to stand loan guarantee for higher education

CM. felicitates meritorious students and educational institutions

Bhopal:Tuesday, August 11, 2009:Updated 18:05IST The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said the state government would spare nothing to ensure quality of education. The government would stand the loan guarantee for higher education and the vacancies of teachers would be filled up soon, he added.
The Chief Minister said that now answer sheets would not be destroyed and the students would be able to see them for a specified time. Bringing about more transparency in education department continuous encouragement would be given to teachers and students.
The Chief Minister was addressing a function organized at his residence to felicitate meritorious students and outstanding educational institutions here today. The Minister for Education Smt. Archana Chitnis, chairman of Samanya Nirdhan Varg Ayog Shri Babulal Jain and MLA Shri Om Prakash Sakhlecha were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister felicitated the students of government schools who scored over 85 percent marks in the Higher Secondary examinations conducted by Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education in 2009, the students who figured on the state level merit list in High School and Higher Secondary examinations and the educational institutions where examination result has been cent percent.
Gwalior branch of Vevekanand Kendra Kanyakumari was conferred the Rs. one lakh state level Swami Vivekanand Yoga Award for year 2007-08. Besides, commendation letters were presented to Achyutanand Prasadik Jiwaji Rao Vyamshala, Ujjain, Yoga teacher Dr. Ganesh Shankar(Sagar), Smt. Hemlata Sinchai, Dr. K.M. Ganguly, Smt. Sadhna Dauderia(all Bhopal).
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister underlined the importance of positive thinking and hard work for success in life. He advised the students not to consider themselves ordinary and pursue their studies with single-minded devotion.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has taken an important decision to provide free textbooks to all students and uniform to girl students of government schools up to 12th class. He said that poverty would not be allowed to be a hurdle for students in pursuance of their studies. He said that Gaon Ki Beti has succeeded in encouraging village girls to pursue higher education. Ladali Laxmi Yojana has been linked to education.
It has been decided to award scholarships to students of general category so that they do not get frustrated. About 50 thousand teachers have been appointed and another 28 thousand would be appointed soon. Intensives would be given to teachers giving good results while there would be disincentives for poor performance.
The Minister for Education Smt. Archana Chitnis said that all possible encouragement is being given to students by school education department. She advised the students to pursue their studies with full dedication while paying full respect to parents and teachers. She said that teachers have got considerable relief from state level counseling for posting of teachers.
The Chief Minister presented cash awards and useful literature to the meritorious students on the occasion. As many as 238 educational institutions were felicitated for cent percent results. As many as 475 students were felicitated for securing over 85 percent marks in Higher Secondary examinations.
They were provided a sum of Rs. 25 thousand each to purchase computer. Cash award of RS. 15 thousand and a certificate were given to the students who figured on the merit list of High School examination and Rs. 20 thousand each to those who made it to the merit list of Higher Secondary examination.
The Chief Minister also felicitated 65 physically challenged students who made it to the merit list of High School and Higher Secondary examinations-2009. This year 18 disabled students figured on the High School examination merit list and 47 on the Higher Secondary examination merit list.
The Chief Minister presented two books “Ham Hongey Kamyab” authored by former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and “Bharat Mein Vigyan Ki Ujjawal Parampara” written by Shri Suresh Soni on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Principal Secretary School Education Smt. Snehalata Shrivastava, chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Shri Rakesh Bansal; Commissioner, Public Instructions Shri B. Rajgopal Naidu; Commissioner, Tribal Welfare Shri Jaideep Govind and Chief Minister’s Secretary Shri Anurag Jain.
