CM addresses industrialists & investors, in Mumbai

Mumbai:Thursday, August 27, 2009:Updated 19:57IST The Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan held an open dialogue with industrialists and investors at an Industry Interactive Session held in Mumbai today as part of the efforts to promote agro-based and food procession units in Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that with a view to encouraging an establishment of food processing units, the practice of classifying districts would be done away with and these units would be provided similar concessions and facilities in all districts of the state. Minister for Commerce, Industries and Employment, Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya also addressed the session.
The Chief Minister said that sustained efforts are being made by Madhya Pradesh Government for rapid industrialization in the state. Now, provision will be made to provide necessary facilities and concessions in industrially developed, semi-developed, backward and all categories of districts for establishment of new industrial units.
He said that while encouraging investment in every area Madhya Pradesh would be made a developed state with the cooperation of the people. Shri Chouhan informed that the investors meet proposed to be held at Indore in February next would be focused on agro-based and food processing industries.
Necessary spadework for establishment of food processing industries would be done in next six months. He and Industries Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya would be in touch with industrialists for this purpose, he added.
Shri Chouhan said that in addition to upgrading Bhopal and Indore Airports to international level, the Nagpur Airport would also be used for works related to establishment of industries. He said that a bumper crop of soybean is expected in Madhya Pradesh.
Sharbati wheat of Madhya Pradesh is in great demand in the country as well as abroad. Madhya Pradesh has made a good beginning in production of paddy. Besides, prospect for establishment of food processing units have brightened following increase in food and vegetable production in Madhya Pradesh.
Orange production is increasing in Chhindwara, Betul and Shajapur districts; Banana production in Burhanpur, tomato production in Raisen and grape production is increasing in Ratlam district.
The state government has reduced the interest on farm loans and is ensuring remunerative return of their produce to farmers, which is helping to make agriculture a lucrative proposition. The Chief Minister said that after eradication of naxalism and dacoits, Madhya Pradesh has emerged as an island.
He said that the investors who have made investments in Madhya Pradesh during last four years are satisfied. Infrastructure development is one of the seven top most priorities of the state government. He gave a patient hearing to the problems of industrialists and assured to take suitable action on their suggestions.

The Minister for Commerce, Industries and Employment Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that public cooperation is a must along with political will and administrative efficiency for development. Madhya Pradesh has all three. Infrastructure has been fast developed over four-five years in Madhya Pradesh.
Referring to the efforts being made to improve power generation the Minister said that in next five years Madhya Pradesh would be a power surplus state. At present power is being supplied round the clock to industries in the state.
Earlier, Shri Vijay Sardana of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) made a presentation focused on the resources and opportunities available in Madhya Pradesh for establishment of agro-based and food processing industries.
Secretary, Food Processing Shri S.P.S. Parihar made a detailed presentation on the food processing industry policy of the state government and the concessions and facilities available in the state.
Regional Head of Central Bank of India Shri Rajnath Pradeep informed about the procedure for obtaining loan from the bank for establishment of industries and assured full cooperation to the industrialists.
Renowned industrialists Shri Rajendra Gupta, Shri Vijay Arora, Shri Manoj Gaur and Shri Ramesh Agrawal shared their experience of setting up their units in Madhya Pradesh and encouraged others to invest in the state.
The industrialists and investors also made their suggestions on the occasion. The officers of Madhya Pradesh government satisfied their queries. The Chief Minister also answered their questions. Principal Secretary, Industries Shri Satyaprakash delivered the welcome address. Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation Shri Praveen Garg proposed a vote of thanks. The session was organized with the cooperation of TRIFAC and Infrastructure and Logistic Federation of India.
