Secretary Public Relations instructs officers of Tikamgarh district
Bhopal:Tuesday, July 14, 2009:Updated 19:00IST So far the 'School Chale Hum' campaign is being run as a government activity. There is a need to undertake this campaign as a social movement. Only then we can increase attendance of children in schools. These views were expressed by Secretary and Commissioner of Public Relations Department Shri Manoj Shrivastava while reviewing activities under 'School Chale Hum' and Hariyali Mahotsava campaigns at the conference hall of Tikamgarh district collector's office.
He said that in Bihar women go door-to-door in the early morning and exhort parents to send their children to school. There is need to launch such a social movement in Madhya Pradesh as well. The state government has entrusted the responsibility to Secretary Public Relations Shri Manoj Shrivastava to undertake constant review of 'School Chale Hum' and Hariyali Mahotsava campaigns in Tikamgarh district and give necessary guidance to officers.
Before reviewing activities of programmes at the meeting, Shri Manoj Shrivastava inspected primary schools at Pratappura and Azadpura in Tikamgarh district. During the inspection, children's attendance was found less then 50 percent. He enquired teachers and students about absentee students. Shri Shrivastava exhorted students to attend school regularly and also motivate fellow students to do the same. He also enquired students about midday meal, distribution of textbooks, uniform etc.
Shri Manoj Shrivastava instructed officers to maintain separate information about each student. While maintaining information about abstaining students, it should be mentioned as to why they do not come to school. He also instructed to find out specific reasons behind absence of every student. Shri Shrivastava called for organising educational conferences and ensuring admission of non-school going students.
He said that the fear should be removed from the minds of children that they will be beaten up in school. He instructed to release the quota for midday meals and starting the scheme immediately through concerning agencies.
Reviewing Hariyali Mahotsava, Shri Manoj Shrivastava informed that this year a target of planting 18 lakh saplings in Tikamgarh district has been set. Last year 13 lakh saplings were planted out of which 60 to 70 trees are reported to have survived. He instructed to undertake a survey of saplings planted last year again and plant saplings in all the schools this year also. He called for developing meadows in the areas where cows graze.
He also instructed to undertake survey of the areas where cows graze and start their utilisation immediately. Shri Shrivastava instructed to dispose of cases pertaining to revenue and land disputes on priority basis. He said that a greenery plan should be chalked out for every village and work should be undertaken accordingly. Those present at the meeting included Tikamgarh District Collector Shri Akhilesh Shrivastava, officers of concerning departments and CEO of Janpad Panchayats.
