Minister detects seepage in school s new building

Bhopal:Tuesday, July 14, 2009:Updated 19:07IST School Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis, who had arrived to inaugurate Akbarpur High School on Kolar Road, has instructed to withhold remaining payment to the construction agency after detecting a seepage in the building. Smt. Chitnis said that no compromise will be made with the construction of new school buildings. Smt. Chitnis cut a red ribbon to inaugurate the school building constructed at a cost of Rs 16 lakh. Those present on the occasion included MLA Shri Jitendra Daga, chairperson of Kolar Municipality Smt. Munni Devi Mangal Singh, Commissioner Public Instructions Shri BR Naidu etc.
Later addressing the inaugural function, Smt Chitnis said that seepage in the new building is not a sign of good quality. The School Education Minister called the District Education Officer on the stage and expressed her displeasure. She also instructed to withhold the remaining payment to the construction agency which constructed this building with public participation.
She also summoned executive engineer and assistant engineer of the concerning department and instructed them to go into the causes of seepage. Smt. Archana Chitnis said that necessary improvements should be made in the new building after inspecting its construction. She instructed to ensure that electric connection should be in running condition. The minister said that she will inspect the school again after the rainy season.
Smt. Archana Chitnis urged the Municipal Council to improve the school sports ground. She called Shri Ashok Soni, who had contributed Rs one lakh for construction of the school building, to the stage and honoured him. Smt. Chitnis said that it is the responsibility of us all to take care of government buildings. She exhorted teachers not to consider their work as a mere service and give guidance to students with sincerity and dedication.
We can bring about improvement in the standard of education only when teachers make education a part and participle of their lives. She exhorted students to complete their education with hard work and honesty. Constant efforts bring about better results.
At the outset, she garlanded the portrait of Maa Saraswati and talked to students. Cluster Principal Smt. Shashi Prabha Yadav, District Education Officer Shri Rajiv Singh Tomar etc. welcomed Smt. Archana Chitnis. Those present on the occasion included Shri Lili Agrawal, corporators of Kolar municipality, divisional Joint Commissioner Shri OP Sharma, teachers, students and large number of citizens.
