CM inaugurates college building in Cancer Hospital
Gwalior:Saturday, July 25, 2009:Updated 21:15IST Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the newly constructed joint building of College of Life Science and PG College of Nursing on the premises of Cancer Hospital and Research Institute here today. The building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan made special mention of Shri Shitla Sahay for establishment of Cancer Research Institute at Gwalior and said that the state government is committed to betterment and extension of health services. The government will extend all possible assistance for development of Cancer Research Institute.
The function was presided over by Morena MP Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. Those present at the function included Public Health, Medical Education and Energy Minister Shri Anup Mishra, MPs Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Smt. Maya Singh, Shri Prabhat Jha, Shri Ashok Argal and Gwalior Mayor Shri Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the state government is making constant efforts for improving health services. The government has launched several schemes so that people of weaker sections can also have access to quality medicare.
He informed that the amount of Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund has been increased up to Rs 2 crore 20 lakh so that needy persons can be given financial assistance immediately. He said that there is shortage of doctors in the state. Even then it is making efforts to ensure that young doctors work in the rural areas.
Institute's founder trustee and chairman of MP State Finance Corporation Shri Shitla Sahay shared his experiences about establishment of Cancer Hospital and Research Institute at Gwalior and expressed gratitude towards all those who lent a helping hand in this noble cause.
