Culture Minister chairs first meeting of steering committee
Bhopal:Wednesday, July 15, 2009:Updated 18:20IST The state government has decided to open a Drama School at Bhopal. For this purpose a steering committee has been constituted which comprises specialist theatre persons. Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma chaired the first meeting of this steering committee here today.
Secretary Culture Shri Manoj Shrivastava, steering committee members including Shri Prabhat Kumar Bhattacharya of Ujjain, Prof. Kamlesh Dutt Tripathi of Benaras, Shri Chandraprakash Dwivedi of Mumbai, Shri Sanjay Upadhyaya of Patna, Sushri Vani Tripathi of Delhi, Shri Suresh Bhardwaj and Shri Lokendra Trivedi were present at the meeting.
The meeting discussed structure of the Drama School and its syllabus. The meeting was informed that such courses will be taught in the Drama School which can create awareness of Natya Shastra among youths. A decision was also taken at the meeting to constitute a jury of national-level experts for selection of Director of the Drama School, where arrangements of research and studies will also be made.
Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma said that the Madhya Pradesh government is constantly undertaking innovative steps in the field of art and culture. During one year as many as 1730 cultural activities were undertaken in the state. On one hand cultural activities have been decentralised and on the other a cultural calendar has also been brought out for organising cultural programmes as per schedule.
The Culture Minister informed that the state government has also decided to organise a talent hunt programme under which tehsil-level talents will be searched. Later, talent hunt programmes will be held at the district and state levels.
The Culture Minister informed that a Freedom Gazetteer of each district is being prepared. Experts came out with their suggestions about the syllabus of Drama School at the meeting. A committee will be set up to finalise syllabus which will prepare courses according to present-day requirements and possibilities of development of Natya Shastra.
