C.M. Condoles Smt. Gangubai Hangal’ s death

Bhopal:Tuesday, July 21, 2009:Updated 18:00IST The Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed grief over the demise of renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Smt. Gangubai Hangal. Smt. Gangubai Passed away at Hubli town in Karnataka, today. She was 97.The Chief Minister, Shri Chouhan in his condolence message said that wonderful talent of late Smt. Gangubai Hangal gave new pennacles to Hindustani classical music in the world.

The doyenne of the Kirana Gharana was awarded India's prestigious civilian honours of Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in year 1971 and 2002 respectively. Late Smt. Gangubai Hangal was also recipient of Tansen Award, instituted by Government of Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister, Shri Chouhan has prayed the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
