COMMITTEES & CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS

Shri Thakur occupied important positions in prestigious institutions from time to time. To mention a few, he was President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (1966-67); President, Indian Fellowship of Former Scouts & Guides; Chairman, Study Group on Banking Costs set up by the Banking Commission, Government of India; was chairman, Thakur Research Foundation, New Delhi; Chairman, Associated Journals (National Herald Group of papers); Director, Unit Trust of India for four years; Director, Export Credit and Guarantee Corporation for three years; Director, Punjab National Bank for four years; Director, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi Chambers of Commerce for three years. He was Convener of Committee for Productivity, Efficiency and Profitability, RBI; and Secretary, Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust from 1986 to 2004.
He was a Member of Board of Governors of Management Development Institute, Gurgaon; Planning Commission Committee on Voluntary Participation in Rural Development (1978-79); Bihar and Uttar Pradesh State Planning Boards; Deputy Leader of the Indian Parliamentary Union Conference at Geneva in 1984;
He was the Leader of Indian delegation to the World Congress of Scouts, Brussels in 1964; Founder & Group Leader of the International Congress of Accountants, Mexico in 1982; Asia Pacific Gathering of Scouts, Colombo in 1984; Indian Delegation to the 17th General Assembly of Scouts Coventry, London in 1987.
