Fee for the PG Diploma in Health Management is Rs. 2.5 lakh
With a view to give education in health management, one year Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management is being started at the State Health Management and Telecom Institute, Gwalior. Public Health Foundation of India, New Delhi will provide technical assistance to this course.
Minister of State for Public Health, Family Welfare, Medical Education Shri Mahendra Hardia while giving this information said that it has been felt since a long time in the field of medical education that the doctors should also know better management of health facilities along with treatment of patients. Through this course better education in the field of health management will be given to the doctors.Shri Hardia informed that under public health management course, education and training in epidemiology, H. M. I. S., computer training, health financing and health economics, health sector reform, behavioural science, environmental health promotion and communication, gender human right etc will be taught. This course has also been approved by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry of the Government of India.
Shri Hardia informed that in the first year 50 seats have been reserved for the doctors working in state government service. Full expenses of the course will be borne by the state government. The remaining 10 seats will be filled by the private doctors, dental surgeons, B.Sc. Nurses, and M. S. W. degree holders.
The government doctors should have completed 5 years in service, the age should not be more than 52 years on 1 August 2010, no departmental enquiry against the applicant, and no case pending with the Lokayukta. The applicant should be ready to work in the field of public health after completing the course.
