Nature & culture lovers must visit Bhutan – Shri Gyamtsho

Bhopal:Thursday, September 24, 2009:Updated 20:30IST Bhutan situated in the eastern part of the Himalayas is a country endowed with immense natural beauty and has rich cultural heritage. Hence, persons who wish to be in proximity of nature and derive maximum pleasure in watching its beauty and are fond of culture must visit Bhutan. These views were expressed by the Chairman of the Royal Civil Service Commission of Bhutan, Shri Lyonpo Thinley Gyamtsho while addressing the probationers of the Central Services at the RCVP Naronha Academy of Administration here today. The five-member team of the Bhutan Government apprised itself of the activities of the Academy of Administration.
In his address Shri Gyamtsho further said that Bhutan has made the yardstick of progress of its country to the happiness of its people. While most of the countries of the world regard the GDP as the progress of their nations. He informed that Bhutan is spread over an area of 38 thousand square kilometers with a population of merely six lakh 30 thousand.
There are 22 thousand government officers and employees in Bhutan. Most of the population of the country is happy. Bhutan has 80 percent trade with India. He said that Bhutan regards India as its elder brother and it is receiving the goodwill and affection from the elder brother.
Adoring the Bhopal city, the Royal Civil Service Commission Chairman, Shri Gyamtsho described it as much closer to the nature like Bhutan. He further informed that there is no adequate facility of rail and road communication in this hilly country. Only airlines is the sole means of transportation.
On the other hand Bhutan has immense prospects for generation of hydel power. In this context, he said that Bhutan is marching ahead in the generation of hydel electricity with the cooperation of India. He further informed that there are in all five commissioners including the Chairman of the Royal Civil Service Commission in Bhutan. The Commission has been assigned with the responsibility of conducting the selection process of Civil Servants on merit basis.
Earlier, the Director General of Academy of Administration, Dr. Sandeep Khanna welcomed the members of the Bhutan government officers’ team and described Bhutan as a good neighbour of India. On this occasion, Shri Gyamtsho replied to the queries of the probationers of the Central Services about Bhutan. The Director, Shri M.K. Varshney expressed gratitude towards the guests.
The Director General, Dr. Khanna informed the team about the activities of the Academy through a power point presentation. He informed that from this year the Academy has started a training programme for officers of various Central Services. The members of the team visited the library, SATCOM room, hostel etc. on the premises of the Academy.
The five-member team of the Royal Civil Service Commission of Bhutan includes Chairman, Shri Lyonpo Thinley Gyamtsho, Vice Chairman Shri Bachu Phub Dorji, Commissioners Shri Pirthiman Pradhan, Shri Sangay Dorji and Smt. Kinley Yangzom. The five-member team was on a two-day visit to Bhopal.
