Health care of PAFs top priority – K.L. Agrawal
Bhopal:Wednesday, August 19, 2009:Updated : Keeping in view the possibilities of water born and vector born diseases around various project reservoirs of Narmada Valley, an ambitious work plan will be carried out to reduce the disease burden in the valley. Under the plan Narmada Valley Development Authority would take the services of National Institute of Malaria Research (N.I.M.R.) for making extensive research and investigations on various water born diseases like Cholera, Diarrhoea, Typhoid, Infective Hepatitis and vector born diseases like Malaria, Dengue Fever, filariasis, japanese encephalitis etc. NVDA would spend Rs. 4.19 Cr. over the project within five years.The proposal for research and investigations through N।I।M।R। was approved in 167th meeting of NVDA held here on Tuesday। Chairing the 167th meeting Minister of State Narmada Valley Development and Chairman NVDA Shri Kanihya Lal Agrawal said that health care of project effected families have had among the priorities of NVDA। The proposed research project would facilitate timely forecast about possible occurrence of diseases। The Vice Chairman, NVDA Shri O।P.Rawat emphasized the need of collecting and analysing micro datas based on geographic and environmental conditions. He informed that the diseases monitoring cell would be established at NVDA Headquarters for monitoring the work under project. A geographical information system based mapping of disease risk areas would help for batter planning management and undertake mitigative majors. The Member (Rehabilitation) Shri R.S.Julania, Member (Finance), Shri Ramesh Chandra, Member (Engineering) Shri G.P.Bathom, Member (Power) Shri M.K.Jain, Secretary, NVDA Shri M.M.Khaira and Advisor Health Dr. Kawthekar among others attended the meeting.
