Bhopal:Friday, July 17, 2009:Updated 19:20IST School Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis has exhorted teachers to contribute in the pious work of linking society with education. Standard of education in the rural areas can be improved only when there is live contact between teachers and villagers. Smt. Archana Chitnis was addressing a workshop held under Rashtra Rishi Yojana at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration here today. Commissioner Rajya Shiksha Kendra Shri Manoj Jhalani was also present at the workshop.
Smt. Archana Chitnis said that the state government is going to implement Rashtra Rishi Yojana. Under the scheme, teachers will instil a sense of responsibility among children and try to link them with patriotism and culture.
She informed that about three lakh teachers are employed in 83 thousand primary and 27 thousand middle schools in the state. She said that a teacher's lifestyle and behaviour leave an imprint on students and they should keep this fact in mind.
Under the scheme, teachers will be provided books based on nationalistic thought, which will help them, develop into good teachers. Besides, a health check-up campaign for teachers will also be launched which will be conducted with public participation. This health check-up will prove state government's sincerity towards the teaching community.
Smt. Chitnis told the officers to dispose of all the problems of teachers by September 5. Action will be taken against District Education Officer and other concerning officers if complaints about non-disposal of problems come after the deadline.
During health check-up campaign no discussion will be undertaken on their problems. She said that teachers should realise their multi-dimensional role. They should not confine themselves with teaching alone but inspire society as well.
Smt. Archana Chitnis said that teachers will be taught to say prayers before taking meals and other rites with a view to apprising them with Indian culture. Presentations will also be made during the health check-up campaign on healthy students, healthy teachers, healthy village and health education.
At the outset, Shri Manoj Jhalani, Shri Chandrahas Dubey etc welcomed Smt. Archana Chitnis. Shri KK Ashthana and representatives of Arogya Bharti, Vidya Bharti and Swami Vivekananda Kendra were also present at the workshop. The programme was conducted by Joint Director Public Instructions Shri KK Pandey.
