Bhopal:Saturday, July 11, 2009:Updated 17:52IST Madhya Pradesh is going to boast of yet anohter marvelous cave of great archaological importance like world heritage Bhimbetka- it is Mrigendranath cave near village Patni in Bareli tahasil of Raisen. It is a coincidence that Mrigendranath cave is situated about only 80 kilomenter from Bhimbetka by road.
The cave might have some link to Bhimbeta, which is known for the shelter of primitive man and the rock paintings made by him. Anyway, it is a matter of rearch, but apparently there seems to be a corelation between the two. Both are situated in Raisen district. The Mrigendranath cave is so narrow that only one person can enter it at a time, that to clinging along the wall like a lizard. At the entrance one feels that it is airconditioned.
Immediately on entering the cave one encounters images of Bajrang Bali and feet of Shiva carved on stone. After climbing down about 100 meter there are many rocks resembling figures of animals. After covering some distance the soil is so crisp, soft and feeble that one feels as if one is walking on a cushion or very soft carpet. Further down, it is very dark and the temperature is very low. The one kilometer long cave is quite fascinating.
There are different natural stone figures inside the cave. These include those of Gajanan, crocodile, frog, Govardhan and keens of Sidha Baba. After this, the cave is wider having labyrinth like small exists through which one may move around in about 500 meter dark area. In an intensive survey the experts found Gupta Godavari cave,Vindhyachal cave, Gajanan, fish figures and seven Dhunis and Yajna Kundas inside it.
The Minister for Culture and Public Relations Shri Laxamikant Sharma visited Mrigendranath cave accompanied by Secretary, Culture Shri Manoj Shrivastava, Commissioner, Archaeology Shri J.L.
