M.P. High Court directs striking college teachers to resume work

Education minister Smt Chitnis’ appeal
Bhopal:Thursday, September 24, 2009:Updated 21:40IST In the wake of the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in connection with the striking college teachers, the Education Minister Smt. Archna Chitnis has urged them to report back on duty from September 25.
She said that we all hail the directives of the High Court issued by it in the larger interests of the students. The striking teachers should abandon the path of agitation or strike and resume their duty in the larger intrest of the student community.
It may be mentioned that a two member bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court comprising Justice Shri Deepak Mishra and Justice Shri R.K. Gupta while hearing a petition of a Rani Durgawati University student Shri Rupesh Kumar today ordered all the teaching and non-teaching staff of all universities and colleges throughout the state to call off their strike and take regular classes.
Smt. Archna Chitnis has said that the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has constituted a three member committee of ministers to seek a solution to the demands of the professors pertaining to the sixth pay scale. The committee would take a decision soon after considering their demands.
