The Minister of State for Labour and Revenue, Shri Karan Singh Verma will distribute identity cards and cheques to construction labourers at a function to be organised at Hoshangabad tomorrow to mark the Vishwakarma Jayanti. The function is being organised by the M.P. Building and other construction works Labourer Welfare Board.
It may be mentioned that the state government constituted the Madhya Pradesh Buildings and other construction works Labourer Welfare Board for construction labourers six years ago. Since then Board has benefited over 75 thousand labourers under its eight welfare schemes being conducted for the welfare of construction labourers. These beneficiaries have so far been paid assistance of Rs. 20 crore under the welfare schemes.
Construction labouerers registered by the Board are entitled for the benefits given under the welfare schemes. The Board has taken initiatives to register more and more construction labourers by organizing camps. After registration, labourers are entitled to get benefits of the welfare schemes. So far, over ten lakh construction workers have been registered.
The Welfare schemes launched to promote health, education and socio economic condition of construction labourers include 'Prasuti Sahayata Yojana', Shiksha Prtsahan Rashi Yojna, Medhawi Chhatra – Chhatraa Puruskar Yojna, Vivah Sahata Yojna, Chikitsa Evam Durghatna Sahayata Yojna and Antyeshti Sahayata Yojna.
