The Congress has said that no final decision has been taken on the constitution of a separate Shiromani gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, in Haryana. Briefing Mediapersons in New Delhi yesterday, party spokesperson, Jayanti Natrajan said, the Chief Minister will take the decision only after examinig the recommendations made by a committee, headed by a state minister.
Refuting allegations of attempts to divide the Sikh community, she said, the demand for separate SGPC has come from the community in the State. She also added that similar committees exist in other states like Delhi.
The BJP, on the other, hand strongly objected to the proposal of creating a separate Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, BJP leader S. S. Ahluwalia said, the proposal will lead to division in the Sikh Community. Speaking on similar lines, Akali Dal leader, Ratan Singh Ajnala, also expressed objections on the proposal and demanded that the Centre should intervene in the matter.
