Governor Shri Thakur offers condolence

Governor Shri Rameshwar Thakur has condoled the death of renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Smt. Gangubai Hangal. In his condolence message, Shri Thakur has said that Smt. Hangal's death is an irreparable loss for Indian classical music.
Shri Thakur has prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family and classical music lovers to bear this shock.

Culture Minister Also condoles Smt. Gangubai Hangal s death
Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma has condoled the demise of renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Smt. Gangubai Hangal. Smt. Gangubai passed away at Hubli town in Karnataka today. She was 97. In his condolence message, Shri Sharma said that Smt. Hangal had contributed a lot to Hindustani as well as Carnatic music through unprecedented devotion and talent.
The Madhya Pradesh government's Culture Department had honoured her with Tansen Samman in 1984. Her death is an irreparable loss. Shri Sharma has prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul.
